In 1942, Porsche was tasked by Hitler to design a super heavy tank with a 12.8cm gun and maximum armor. Scheduled trials in 1943 faced numerous challenges, such as engine issues and suspension problems. A production order for 150 units was placed but later cancelled. Testing of prototypes V1 and V2 occurred in 1944 and 1945, respectively, with both eventually destroyed at Kummelsdorf.
